Wow time flies by sorry for not writing it has just been so crazy lately! School is almost over a week then freedom!!! YA! So last week was 4-H.
Such a sad time :( Gobby is gone my best animal friend is gone. But the happy part is that he has gone to beautiful field with Boon and is sleeping under a tree eating sweet colorful flowers. (My back ground shows the field he is staying in.)
when we first got there we weighed them in. Gobby weighed 960 pounds. Pretty tiny but he behaved very well. Unlike Boon who gave my mom a hard time when we went into weigh.
I tied up Gooby until it was his turn to get washed and cleaned up. The newspaper got a pretty good picture of me washing up Gooby tail. I had lots of enthusiastic expressions. Gooby again was well behaved and enjoyed getting his picture taken as well.
Grandpa Buck came to help and watch me. After washing him we dried with a blow dryer and trimmed him all up. We tied him back up and watched the other 4-H groups show their calves. Then it was my turn we got pretty dressed up in red ribbon. I had two braids in my hair with red ribbons on each end. Then we tied a big fat red ribbon on Gobby's tail. We were matching!!!!!! Then we lined up to go in the show ring. I had butterflies and wanted to run away but i was brave and went into the show ring the show must go on lol. When i got in the show ring i walked around the circle like a million time the they stopped us and i lined up Gooby in his position He was so well behaved. The Judges came around and felt Gobby's muscles. the judge said i looked cute in my ribbons. They put me in last place. I was thrilled so happy to get last place. Everyone one wants to get last place right,? it was my desire the whole year i trained Gobby NOT!! So when i got out of the ring i handed my my steer and ran and ran and ran until i cried. Last place was so much fun. After i calmed my self down from the excitement of getting last place i returned and watch the other clubs
show their steers. After the show went home and relaxed...........................
Day 2 the sad day................
When we got to the Arena i
fed and watered Gooby and got him all brushed out. Then we went to go watch the sheep show and sale. Before the sale there was a grooming competition and the groups were mixed up with different 4-H groups. Our group choose to use Gobby as our calf. Gooby was so well behaved. we had 12 minutes to get Gobby sparkling clean. Guess what out team WON!!!!! YAAA Gobby was so happy and same with my group. We got a big treat basket for getting first place. I got first place go me oh ya uh. Then after the grooming competition it was the sale dundunduun. As we lined up to go in the ring that's when i started leaking and i could not stop. I cried and cried and cried and Brayden told me i was fine i cant believe he did not cried and i cried and i cried thy were about to take away my best animal friend away. Me and Gobby were pretty close the last year. When i got into the ring i tried to stop myself from crying but i could not. Gooby was crying to. Grandpa Torrie bought my calf. THANK YOU.
When i got out other ring they lead me to gate so i could get my recite then they lead me outside to a pin where other calves were they told me to take off his halter and go. As i was taking it of Gobby licked me and tried to follow me but i ran biting my show stick so i would not make loud noises. My best friend was gone. But he is in a field with Boon eating flowers and sweet grass and will not die until he is super old. Yep that is how it goes. It was a good learning experience. And i am totally doing it next year but no other calf will be like Gooby. Love ya Gooby!!
